Lake Superior agate is a agate stained by iron and found along the lake superior shore line.     Lake Superior agates were formed during lava eruptions that occurred in Minnesota about a billions years ago and was distributed by glacial movements 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. The stone is recognized by its rich red, orange and yellow color caused by the oxidation of the iron within the stone.
